Our UniversityLocated in the City of Ariel, a bustling community of 20,000 people in the Samarian hills, the Ariel University Center (AUC) is helping to pioneer a new future for Israel and its younger generation. Its location is less than an hour's drive from both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and about 20 minutes from Herzliya. From its inception, Ariel University Center has integrated research and development into its prime goal of educating the next generation of Israelis. By pursuing this two-pronged agenda practically, with an eye to the needs of the Israeli and world economy, AUC maintains an atmosphere of excellence in both research and scholarship that attracts thousands of students from all over the country.
Potential for Growth The present campus covers an area of 480,000 square meters (119 acres), but less than 10% of that area is taken up by existing permanent buildings for classrooms, laboratories and lecture theaters. If resources for construction become available, the potential for growth in infrastructure would be enormous and could realistically accommodate the projected 20,000 young people expected to attend AUC by the year 2020. Future Curriculum and Research Development To continue its record of success, AUC is planning to increase its number of departments (currently 24) and add more subjects of study. The plan focuses mainly on increasing the number of graduate schools at the Center. During the 2008-2009 academic year, Ariel University Center applied to the Israel Council for Higher Education (the national agency accrediting academic studies in Israel) to open 20 new departments, over half for graduate studies.
